Ex-employee charged with burglary of cell phone store on Forest Ave., source says

STATEN ISLAND, NY – A 29-year-old man illegally entered and stole cash from a cell phone store on Forest Avenue in Port Richmond, authorities say.

The suspect is a former employee of the company, according to a source familiar with the investigation.

Joseph Capolina of Jules Drive in Graniteville was arrested for the incident at the Metro by T-Mobile store at 1440 Forest Ave. on June 10 around 12:30 p.m., according to the criminal complaint and the police.

The suspect typed in the key code to unlock the store’s front door, according to the complaint.

Police allege he stole approximately $510 in cash from a cash register.

The suspect was charged with burglary, petty larceny, criminal possession of stolen property and criminal trespassing.

He was released on his own recognizance and is due back in court on July 1, according to public records.

A lawyer for the accused did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
