Houston police chase: Cell phone store robbery suspects arrested after chase and manhunt near Galleria

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – A high-speed chase that began on the northwest side of Houston on Monday afternoon came to an abrupt halt when the driver slammed into a retaining wall and at least two cars, then pulled over. stopped near the Galleria area.

Three armed suspects jumped out of the car and fled on foot to the area between Post Oak and West Loop, just south of San Felipe.

The police action began with a robbery at a cell phone store in the 10000 block of Hammerly just before 5 p.m., according to Houston Police Lt. Larry Crowson. Officers spotted the suspects’ vehicle leaving the area at high speed. They tried to stop them and ended up in a chase on Route 290.

Lt. Crowson confirmed that the three suspects were arrested after a search, partly thanks to eyewitnesses. One of them was immediately taken into custody. Two others were arrested after a manhunt.

One of these suspects was found hiding in the toilets of a Berryhill restaurant. The third was spotted driving through a parking lot in the center of the Strip on Post Oak and Westheimer. He was arrested after officers found him hiding in a DSW shoe store.

The three suspects are teenagers, according to the police. Their identities have not been disclosed. There is no immediate word on the charges to be filed.
