Probably, the Chinese company will not tag the phone with other producing companies, but will design and manufacture itself, the user added. The phone will have various features that can interact with NIO vehicles, such as file transfer between vehicles and mobile phones, AR and VR projection, NOMI voice assistant on the phone.
Another Weibo user revealed earlier that NIO is increasing its investments in the mobile phone sector and plans to add another 200 R&D positions in the near future. NIO said there was nothing to disclose at this time.
NIO will not be the first automaker to enter the mobile phone segment. In September 2021, Geely founder Li Shufu officially announced his entry into the smartphone industry and signed a strategic agreement with Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone.
Li Shufu once said that the phone business would be of great importance to Geely Auto. Better development of mobile phone technology will further improve the user experience in the vehicle, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of smart electric vehicles.
