Suspect arrested, another wanted in Frankfurt mobile phone store robbery

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – Two men attempting to steal cell phones from an AT&T store in Frankfort sparked a high-speed, three-county chase that landed one of the two in jail.

According to Frankfurt police, at around 5:25 p.m. Tuesday, the AT&T store at 130 Jett Blvd. reported that two men entered the store posing as customers, brandished a gun and demanded several cell phones. The two men left the store with 20 to 30 cellphones and fled in a maroon Ford Explorer, police said.

Shortly after, the SUV was spotted on I-64 by officers from Frankfort and a chase ensued through Franklin, Shelby and Jefferson counties.

The suspects jumped out of the SUV and fled. A minor was arrested in the Middletown area of ​​Jefferson County, but the other suspect fled, police said.

The vehicle, stolen from a Louisville car dealership, and the stolen property have been recovered, police said.

The minor will be charged with first degree theft and other offences.
